Monday Evening

• The CCWI 25 Welcome Drinks Reception will be held in the Engineering Heartspace, in the Sir Fredrick Mappin Building.

• Completed in 2020 The Engineering Heartspace project involved the creation of a quadruple height atrium between the Grade II listed Sir Frederick Mappin Building and the 1885 Central Wing housing new laboratories, offices and social space and the complete refurbishment of both buildings.

• The atrium is housed under an impressive curved glass roof that links the two buildings. An alternative entrance to both the Mappin and Central Block buildings has been created from Portobello Street. The project is designed to aid communication and collaboration.

• The Engineering Heartspace has created a dynamic social and research collaboration space between the two oldest buildings in the University estate.

• Complimentary drinks and canapes will be served in The Heartspace.  Delegates will then be free to move on to pubs or restaurants of their choice. The Heartspace is surrounded by local pubs who serve a whole host of real ales, which are not to be missed. For those who wish to eat, The Heartspace is very close to West Street where restaurants of all types can be found and a short ride to the City Centre.
